CRIKVENICA
Crikvenica - Town on the Vinodol Riviera, 37 km southeast of Rijeka. The largest and best-known tourist destination in this area. Drubracine brook flows into the sea in the vicinity of the town. Crikvenica has a long tourist tradition. Tourists first began to show interest in the town in 1890, while the first hotel was opened in 1891. The area has beautiful pebble beaches, at certain places with sand, as well as clean sea. The economy is based on agriculture, vegetable growing, stockbreeding, fishing and tourism. The tourist offer encompasses various types of accommodation facilities, an extensive offer of sports and recreational activities and cultural and entertainment events. It is an attractive destination for families with children, especially because beaches have excellent facilities for children.
There is a health resort in Crikvenica. The beaches of Crikvenica have beneficial mud used in medical treatment. Well-developed health programs are primarily known for treatment of respiratory organs and rheumatism. Numerous tennis courts, ball games, water sports, rowing, sailing and windsurfing are part of the sports and recreational offer. Those interested in more challenging activities can take advantage of organized cycling. Furthermore, you can go mountain climbing or hunting. The surroundings of Crikvenica are suitable for such activities throughout the year. In the town, you can also find an aquarium with Adriatic flora and fauna, as well as tropical fish. The most famous cultural and entertainment events are Easter concerts and various festivals such as, Crikvenica Days in August, Fisherman’s Week in September and Days of Croatian Products from 05.07 to 12.07, an excellent opportunity for tourists to taste first class Croatian products. Bribir is a place that lies in the interior of the Vinodol valley, 6 km from the sea and the well-known tourist center Novi Vinodolski. This historic town is a popular destination with lovers of antiques and art historians. A 13th century rectangular tower, massive fortification walls, Baroque edifices and Renaissance churches are what is left of the Count Fortress. Besides its rich cultural heritage, there are also excellent hunting grounds in the vicinity, as well as several restaurants offering traditional dishes. Bribir is also popular with hikers and trekkers, who often visit this area with marked trails Bribir - Lukovo - Ravno - Zagradski vrh. Place on the coast, in the Vinodolski Channel, 3 km northeast of Crikvenica. It is characterized by nice sandy beaches suitable for small children, therefore, for family holidays. Kraljevica, a town and harbor 26 km south of Rijeka on the road towards Zadar. Kraljevica lies in the Vinodolski channel, at the entrance to the Bakarski bay, on a slightly inclined slope, in an area of favorable climate. Although it is not a very old town, its harbor and shipyard are well-known. Since the 19th century, it has been a famous tourist destination with luxurious villas and swimming beaches. The sandy and pebble beaches on the Ostro peninsula are the main tourist attractions, while the nearby bays of Scott and Dubno also have wonderful beaches. A well-equipped campsite surrounded by pine trees is not far away. Kraljevica is easily accessible from all directions and we recommend it to families with children and, due to its favorable climate, to those with respiratory problems and allergies. Jadranovo is a town, harbourand seaside resort on the coast of Mala Vrata (Small Gate) in Tihi Kanal (Still Channel), between Kraljevica and Crikvenica, opposite of the northernmost part of the island of Krk, which is the closest to the mainland.
The coast is, especially in the north-western part, covered with sub-Mediterranean underbrush. In enclosed places and fences there are olive trees. Chief occupations are farming, fishing and tourism. The most spacious shore (Havisce cove) houses a bungalow complex.
A pine forest and numerous small beaches make Jadranovo an attractive tourist destination. The most spacious shore, the cove of Havisce, houses a complex of vacation homes. Visitor opportunities include various water sports, walking trails (Lungomare) and entertainment and cultural programs in nearby Crikvenica. The traditional event called Days of Jadranovo - Jakovlje, with cultural, entertainment and sports programs are held in the week 21st-27th of July.
Selce, town and port in Vinodolski Channel, 3 km southeast of Crikvenica. The area has a rocky shoreline, as well as pebble and sandy beaches. The economy is based on agriculture, wine and olive growing, stockbreeding, fishing and tourism. Tourism started to develop some hundred years ago. In 1894, the first swimming area was opened. Accommodation is available in hotels, rooms and camping sites. The sports and recreational offer includes tennis courts, mini-golf, various water sports, while the promenade that connects the town with Crikvenica is suitable for bike riding, jogging and roller blading. The most attractive cultural and entertainment events are Fishermen’s Evenings, whereas nearby Crikvenica offers various types of entertainment. Selce is an attractive destination for an active family holiday.
