RAB

The town of Rab, the island's capital, is a historical gem full of Renaissance and Gothic palaces of old noble families.
If you stay in town, you can visit its four bell towers or walk through the stone streets.
In Kampor you can feel the atmosphere of an old fisherman place which kept its original appearance.
Near Kampor there is a sandy beach and a lovely town of Lopar.
If you are curious about authentic domestic cuisine be sure to visit the town of Barbat where you can taste domestic sheep cheese, wine and honey.

Gastronomy
The island of Rab has its own plantations where fruits and vegetables are grown and sold at the majority of the markets on Rab.
These plantations are located around the town of Mundanije which is situated in the interior part of the island.
If you prefer healthy and naturally grown food then the island of Rab is the place for these types of products.
Aside from traditional seafood dishes, specialties on the island of Rab include Rapska torta a type of dessert which can still be found in some ice-cream parlors. It is made using a special type of dough filled with almonds and at one point was only made by Benedictine nuns. Today it is prepared in households to mark special occasions and is available in ice-cream shops and well worth tasting.
Fun and night life
Daily activities, in other words, events which you can visit and see, include the Rab knight’s tournament for archers.
It is a renewed knight’s game that dates back to the 14th century which today revives old traditions.
During the summer months, an old melody echoes through the town of Rab while the knight’s game is being performed using colorful costumes taking the entire town back several centuries.
Those of you that consider yourself night owls can always have a good time in the town of Rab itself where you can go dancing and have fun at several of the cafes or the local disco.
Other places on the island provide a more relaxing atmosphere for an evening out.
Beaches
The beaches on the island of Rab are divided according to the four corners of the world. To the west are rocky beaches, to the east pebble beaches and to the north sandy beaches.
The most famous sand beach on the island of Rab is Rajska plaza near Lopar however there are also sand beaches near Supetarska Draga and Barbat.
There are also three nudist beaches near Lopar - Sahara, Ciganka and Stolac.
In the town of Rab itself, the beaches are located around Komrcar Park and are mainly concrete public beaches.
Supetarska Draga has three small islands nearby, Maman, Srednjak and Sailovac, all of which have sand beaches.
These small islands are also the favorite destinations of surfers.
What to see?
The four bell towers – the town of Rab
The four Romanesque bell towers have become somewhat of a trademark of the entire island of Rab. They are located in the historical nucleus of the town, and one can reach each of the towers by strolling through the steep and narrow stone streets since they are fairly close to one another. One can climb atop two of the towers and enjoy the view of the horizon.
Komrcar Park – the town of Rab
Komrcar Park is located near the historical nucleus of the town. While strolling through town it is always nice to escape the summer heat by sitting in the shade on one of the park benches. In the park you can smell bay leaves combined with the scent of pine trees making you feel as if you are far away from the city when in fact the town of Rab is closer than you think.
Lopar
Lopar is a small town known for its long sandy beach popularly known as Rajska plaza (Heavenly Beach). At the same time Lopar has preserved a traditional way of life and visiting Lopar provides the best example of how people once lived. The northeastern part of the town gives way to a beautiful view of the neighboring islands of Grgur and Goli.
Dundo-Palit forest
There is a protected evergreen oak forest on the Kalifront peninsula where you can see up to fifty evergreen oak trees, which is quite rare on the Adriatic. Aside from the oak trees, you will also see coniferous trees such as alpine evergreen, spruce, wild rose and many others. Many say that Dundo forest is one of the most beautiful evergreen oak forests on the Mediterranean.
